Western Architectural Openings’ “Framing Sonoma” Wins Best Residential Case Study in 2026 Window + Door Awards

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Western Architectural Openings announced that its “Framing Sonoma” case study has been named the winner in the Best Residential Case Study category in the 2026 Window + Door Awards. The case study highlights a project located in Sonoma, California, showcasing how large-format architectural openings can connect a home’s interior with its surrounding landscape.

Presented by Window + Door magazine and the National Glass Association, the 2026 Window + Door Awards introduced the Best Residential Case Study category this year to recognize products showcased in real-world applications. Award winners will be featured in print and recognized during the awards ceremony at GlassBuild America, taking place September 23-25 in Las Vegas.

“We’re honored to have Villa Verde Sonoma recognized as the first winner of the Best Residential Case Study category,” said Crystal Perez, Brand Manager for Western Architectural Openings. “The Series 600 products allowed the design team to create the dramatic openings that seamlessly connect the home’s indoor and outdoor spaces while preserving the design envisioned for the home.”

Villa Verde Sonoma, designed by Allegra Diggins and Sena Tudisco of Ridge Design + Build, was created to emphasize the natural beauty of Sonoma wine country. Offering custom sizing, narrow sightlines, and ease of operation, Western’s Series 600 products allowed the architects to design without compromise.

The home features a 41-foot Series 600 Multi-Slide Door, the largest opening Ridge Design + Build has used on a project. When fully retracted, it eliminates the barrier between the great room and covered terrace, creating an expansive indoor-outdoor living space. Throughout the home, large, fixed Series 600 windows and double-story window walls help balance the exterior aesthetic and further enhance the interior’s connection to the surrounding scenery.
